Polarized

Polarized pluralism - Polarized pluralism is a symptom of a sick two-party or multi-party political system. It was originally described by political philosopher Sartori, and defines a system where moderate views are replaced by polarized views.

Polarized glasses - Polarized glasses create the illusion of three-dimensional images by restricting the light that reaches each eye, an example of stereoscopy. To present a stereoscopic motion picture, two images are projected superimposed onto the same screen through orthogonal polarizing filters.

Wollaston prism - A Wollaston prism is an optical device, invented by William Hyde Wollaston, that manipulates polarized light. It separates randomly polarized or unpolarized light into two orthogonal, linearly polarized outgoing beams.

XMCD - X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) is a difference spectrum of two x-ray absorption spectra (XAS), one taken with left circularly polarized light, and one with right circularly polarized light. By closely analyzing the XMCD spectrum, information can be obtained on the magnetic properties of the atom, such as its spin and orbital magnetic moment.
